Project Details

Client: Will & Sasha England
Timeline: April 2021 – August 2021
Location: Piedmont, SC

Initial Budget: $27,000
Final Budget: $32,090

The Problem

When Will & Sasha purchased their new home, they knew they wanted to do some updating, however they were unsure of what exactly they wanted to do and how to begin.

Will and Sasha England were looking to make some changes to several rooms in their house. They wanted to begin by dealing with their primary bathroom. They felt the vanity was awkward and too low and the sink was uncentered, causing them to constantly bump into the wall.

The Englands were also planning to:

  • Update their outdated kitchen and half bath,
  • Reorganize the foyer
  • Alter the layout of the area including their laundry room, mudroom and pantry area

The solution

To solve the client’s problem, we built new vanities that were taller and had centered sinks. The half bath was also transformed by removing the unnecessary vanity and replacing it with a pedestal sink.

The foyer was updated by removing the shelves and the center supports.

We kept the kitchen footprint, but replaced the countertops, backsplash, stove, sink and faucet to refresh the space.

We also added a statement wall in the stairwell and completely reworked the combined mudroom, laundry and pantry space with cabinetry that provides ample storage.

The first floor now provides the functionality the homeowners need while reflecting their personal style.

Budget

Our initial budget of $27,000  included costs such as plumbing fixtures, light fixtures and stove. Our final budget ended up being $32,090 due to the countertop selection.

A pro tip is to search for remnants of countertops for smaller projects. We bought a floor display pedestal sink which helped with the budget and the schedule of installation.

Key Take Aways
High Points:

The high point of this project would have to be the kitchen. The clients love their extended island space and the way the kitchen is now the focal point of the entire downstairs.

Best Buy:

The Eternal Calcutta countertops in Gold Quartz paired with the charcoal gray sink was our best purchase because it added the classic, timeless look we were looking for in our kitchen. These two elements really changed the character and feel of the kitchen area making it the focal point of the entire downstairs.
